Privacy Policy

Effective July 21, 2026 · Audiobook Studio for Mac, iPhone, and iPad

The short version: Audiobook Studio collects nothing about you. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. Your audio files are processed entirely on your own device and are never uploaded to us or anyone else.

Who we are

Audiobook Studio is made by Kuro Apps LLC, a Colorado limited liability company (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to information when you use the Audiobook Studio apps for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS, and this website. You can reach us any time at support@kuro-apps.com.

Information we collect

We do not collect any personal information. Audiobook Studio has no user accounts, no sign-in, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party trackers. We do not build profiles, and we have nothing to sell, rent, or share — because we hold no data about you at all.

Your audio and your files

Everything the app does to your audio — importing, analyzing silence, detecting chapters, encoding, and writing the finished audiobook — happens locally on your device using Apple's built-in frameworks and bundled encoders. Your audio files, cover images, and the audiobooks you create are never transmitted to us or to any third party.

The app can only read the files and folders you explicitly choose through the system file picker or by dragging them in. It does not scan your library, browse your disk, or access files you have not selected.

Optional features that use the internet

A few features work by asking a third-party service for public information about a book. These only run when you choose to use them, and they send only what is needed for the lookup — never your audio, and never anything identifying you.

Book metadata search

When you use Search Metadata Online, the text you type (for example a title and author) is sent to Audible's public catalog service, Apple's iTunes Search API, and the Google Books API in order to return matching book details and cover art.

Chapter lookup

When you look up a book's real chapter list, the app sends that book's public catalog identifier (its ASIN) to the Audnexus API (api.audnex.us) to retrieve chapter titles and timings.

Optional encoder installation (Mac, direct download only)

If you choose to install the optional xHE-AAC encoder, the app downloads that encoder's source code from its official public repository on GitLab and builds it on your Mac. This happens only when you press the install button.

As with any internet request, the operators of those services will see the request itself, including your device's IP address, and will handle it under their own privacy policies — we have no control over and no access to that. If you never use these features, Audiobook Studio makes no network requests at all.

Purchases

Audiobook Studio is distributed through Apple's App Store. Any purchase is handled entirely by Apple. We never see or receive your payment details, billing address, or Apple Account information. Apple provides us only with anonymous, aggregated sales reporting.

Data Apple may share with us

If you have opted in to sharing diagnostics and usage data with developers in your device settings, Apple may make aggregated crash reports and usage statistics available to us through App Store Connect. This information comes from Apple in aggregate form and cannot be used to identify you. You can turn this off at any time in your device's privacy settings.

The bundled sample audiobook

The app includes a short public-domain audiobook so you can try the workflow. It is stored inside the app on your device and involves no network activity or data collection.

This website

This site is a set of static pages hosted on Vercel. It sets no cookies, embeds no analytics, and asks you for nothing. Our host records standard server request logs (such as IP address and requested page) for security and reliability purposes, as essentially all web hosts do.

Children

Audiobook Studio is not directed at children under 13, and since the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, and delete the personal data a company holds about you. Because we do not collect or store any personal data, there is nothing for us to look up, export, or erase. Everything the app creates lives on your own device, under your control, and is removed if you delete the app. If you have a question about this, please get in touch.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, we will post the updated version here with a new effective date. If a future version of the app were ever to collect data, we would say so clearly here before that version ships.
